Harris Leads Roadrunners to Second Straight

EDINBURG, Texas---The Edinburg roadrunners won their second game straight game behind good pitching as Ryan Harris allowed two runs in six and two-third innings en route to a 4-2 win over the San Angelo Colts Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Harris (1-1) picked up the win after allowing two runs on four hits and striking out eight.

The Roadrunners (3-3) got the scoring started in the bottom of the third inning against Colts starter Brian Henschel (0-2). C.J. Beatty led off the inning with a double and then moved over to third on an infield single by Jason Thomas. A double play off the bat of Adam Gordon allowed Beatty to score from third. Cody McMorris then followed with a single to center field. McMorris then stole second base but an errant throw allowed him to come around and score giving Edinburg the 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, R.J. Harris hit a double off the wall in left field and then came around to score after a throwing error went into the dugout which extended the Roadrunners lead 3-0.

The Colts (1-5) got their pair of runs in the top of the seventh when Landon Camp and Jon Edwards hit back-to-back home runs cutting Edinburg's lead to 3-2.

Jason Thomas led off the bottom of the eighth with a triple and then came into score on a fielding error by the Colts' defense making it 4-3 Roadrunners.

Julio Castro then pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his second save of the season giving Edinburg the 4-2 victory.

The Roadrunners and Colts play the third game of their three-game series Tuesday morning at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Corey Goudeadu (0-0) is expected to face Logan Williamson (0-0) with the first pitch expected for 10:30 am.
