Edenton Steamers News Release
Zane Harris opened the floodgates on Friday night with five runs batted in to lead the Steamers to a 7-1 win on the road against the Holly Springs Salamanders.
Edenton's record in the second half is now at 3-6. Holly Springs moved to 3-5 in the East division.
Facing Caden O'Brien, one of the best pitcher from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, Harris took him deep in the first inning with a two-run blast to right field.
And then, to put the contest out of reach, he slapped a bases-clearing double in the seventh inning. He ended the night with three total hits.
Jake Miller earned his third win of the season, battling for six strong innings as the Clams' starter. He handed one run in the opening frame, but was lockdown in his final five innings of work.
Jorge Lozano and Nate Gardner continued to be tough on Holly Springs' hitters, tossing one shutout inning each. RD Lutze then closed it out in the ninth inning and fanned all three batters he faced.
Bryson Worrell, Anthony Warneke and Troy Maslowski each collected two hits on Friday night. Worrell added one RBI and two runs.
O'Brien received the loss in four innings, plating three Steamers. Noah Jones was tabbed with four earned runs while recording just one out.
The Steamers are back in action at home on Saturday night against the Wilson Tobs set for 7 p.m. first pitch.
