Harrington Nets Two in 4-2 Victory over Havoc

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Matt Harrington scored twice as the Mississippi RiverKings (26-19-2) defeated the Huntsville Havoc (30-12-5) 4-2 on Tuesday night at the Landers Center in Southaven.

With the RiverKings on the penalty kill, team captain Devin Mantha continued his hot streak in the first period and struck a wrist shot from the slot to give the RIverKings a early 1-0 lead. Mississippi's team defense and goalie Peter Di Salvo managed to hold the Havoc scoreless on four power play opportunities and 12 shots on goal during the period.

In the second, the RiverKings spawned an offensive scoring spree. Early in the period, Mike Moran, with assists from Mantha and Brant Sherwood, got things started with a wrist shot that he placed behind goalie Tyler Steel.

Forward Matt Harrington displayed two consecutive goals in the period to the give the RiverKings a 4-0 lead. In Harrington's first goal, Steven Hoshaw distributed a pass across the ice that set up a one-on-one opportunity for the veteran. On the next goal, the forward skated on a breakaway and ushered a back-hander which caused the Havoc to make a goalie change.

With Adam Courchaine in the goal for the Huntsville, the Havoc struck back with two goals in the second period. Forward Tyler French scored twice to cut the RiverKings lead 4-2.

For the final period, Peter Di Salvo stopped 10 shots to hold off the Huntsville Havoc to ensure the 4-2 victory for the RiverKings.

Peter Di Salvo (10-5-0) earned the victory by diverting 26 of 28 shots, while Tyler Steel (16-6-3) took the loss by stopping 27 of 31 shots.
