April 29, 2008 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) News Release
NEW YORK, April 29, 2008 - The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and HANNspree North America, Inc. today announced the launch of the Hanns-G âGo Beyond' rookie program, a new initiative that will highlight the accomplishments and experiences of WNBA rookies.
Highlights of the Hanns-G rookie program include a series of Hanns-G âGo Beyond' Rookie Awards, a Hanns-G branded section on WNBA.com with exclusive content about WNBA rookies, and the Hanns-G âGo Beyond' Fan Challenge.
"The 2008 WNBA rookie class is the most heralded group in league history and further proof of how the women's game continues to exponentially grow," said WNBA President Donna Orender. "The Hanns-G rookie program will place a spotlight on these charismatic up-and-coming stars intent on blazing new trails for the WNBA and give our fans new ways to interact with them."
"The Hanns-G rookie program is an exciting opportunity to expose the WNBA audience to our products that, like the WNBA, âGo Beyond' the norm in establishing excellence," said Wynn Yiu, President of HANNspree North America, Inc.
HANNspree's portfolio of WNBA rookie awards will include the Hanns-G âGo Beyond' Rookie of the Month Awards, the Hanns-G âGo Beyond' Rookie of the Year Award, and the Hanns-G âGo Beyond' All-Rookie Team.
In 2008, a new class of players will fulfill their dreams of playing in the WNBA. Their journey will encompass a series of exciting firsts - the WNBA Draft, their first game, their first road trip - and these WNBA rookie milestones will be documented on the Hanns-G branded section on WNBA.com. Exclusive, in-depth content will be available for fans, including the Hanns-G âGo Beyond' Rookie Report and Rookie Diaries, where WNBA players will post photos and blogs throughout the season sharing their first-year WNBA experiences.
HANNspree will offer WNBA fans the opportunity to prove that they are the most passionate fans in the country through the Hanns-G âGo Beyond' Fan Challenge. WNBA fans will be asked to submit photos that show how they have "gone beyond" the call of duty to support their favorite teams, and the winner of the contest will receive a trip for two for a VIP WNBA Finals experience.
The Hanns-G âGo Beyond' program is an extension of the relationship between the WNBA and HANNspree, which has been an official marketing partner of the league since 2005.
