Corpus Christi Hammerheads News Release
The Corpus Christi Hammerheads, (5-6) return to Citgo Field inside the American Bank Center Sunday afternoon to take on the Abilene Ruff Riders (2-7).
The two teams met in Abilene on April 17th which saw the Hammerheads fall to the Ruff Riders 48-31 giving Abilene their first win of the season. That loss has stuck with the Hammerheads who are looking to return the favor this week and improve their home win streak to 4.
Sunday will see the return of a familiar face to the American Bank Center in Ivory McCann. McCann thrilled crowds in 2007 and 2008 while a member of the now defunct Corpus Christi Sharks. In two games this season with Abilene, McCann has 281 All-Purpose Yards and 3 Touchdowns.
Despite the controversial loss last Saturday in Odessa, the Hammerheads come into Sunday's game on a bit of a high note. QB Wes Cooper and the offense had their most productive game of the season through the air. Cooper was 25 of 44 for 202 yards and 5 scores. With the return of RB Redford Borel, Linemen Jerod Fields and Wil Gavit, (all were out last week), the offense could be poised for their best night of the season.
Kickoff for Sunday afternoon is set for 4:05pm. Fans can follow the action on ESPN Corpus Christi, (1230AM, 96.1FM and 103.3FM), with Scott Howe. The radio broadcast begins at 3:40pm.
Tickets for Sundays contest are available at American Bank Center box office, Ticketmaster, ticketmaster.com, or by calling the Hammerheads at (361)814-PASS (7277). For more information, call the Hammerheads office or log on to www.cchammerheads.com.
