DROPBACK: The Hammerheads Defeated the Austin Turfcats 51 - 36 on March 14th.

FORWARD MOTION: Corpus Christi will begin a 5 game road trip starting with a visit to San Angelo to take on the Stampede Express on Saturday March 27th at 7:05pm.

TEAM NOTES/TRENDS:

A Win is a Win: The Hammerheads won their first game of the 2010 season this past Sunday despite the teams struggles on offense for a second week in a row. The Defense however continued their stellar play producing the first 20 points of the game. While the stats may not have been pretty, the tally in the win column is.

Battle for the QB: The Hammerheads made a change prior to their second game brining in Wes Cooper at QB. The team chose not to have a true QB on the active roster to back him up. After Coopers struggles last week, the question is will the team utilize a true back up QB this week after the franchise added John De Los Santos to the roster.

Player of the Week?: After his performance last week, Hammerheads DB Jason Lee is a candidate for Defensive Player of the Week Honors. Lee had 7 Tackles, 2 Forced Fumbles, a Fumble Recovery for a Touchdown, and an INT.

PLAYERS/MATCHUPS TO WATCH:

Offensive and Defensive Lines: The Hammerheads look to control the line of scrimmage this week. The teams O-Line played much better in the win over Austin but still need some improvement. On defense the Hammerheads look to put more pressure on the Roughnecks QB. If the Hammerheads control the line... they'll control the game.

Passing Game: The passing game has been virtually non existent in two games thus far this season. The teams 3 QB's have gone 17-43, for 122yds, 1 TD and 4 Int's, in those two games. Those numbers have to improve for the team to have continued success.

Turnovers & Miscues: The Hammerheads had another 4 turnovers Sunday against Austin. Austin however committed 6 turnovers to give Corpus Christi a +2 on the night. That's a formula they can not rely on each and every week. The Hammerheads must reduce the mistakes and miscues for success.

Coaching: Hammerheads Rookie Head Coach Stephen Fillmore got his first professional win against Austin. Although there were a couple of questionable play calls, the staff as a whole improved from week one. They must continue that growth this week against West Texas.
