JUPITER, Fla. - The Jupiter Hammerheads made it a clean sweep over the St. Lucie Mets on Friday at Roger Dean Stadium.

The Hammerheads hung on to win the conclusion of Thursday's suspended game 7-5. Then they won a walk-off thriller, 2-1, in extra innings in the seven-inning second game.

In game 1, David Wright played the full contest at third base while Kirk Nieuwenhuis played the entire game in center field.

Wright went 2 or 5 with a pair of singles and a strikeout. He committed an error on one of two balls hit to him at third.

Nieuwenhuis went 1 for 4 with a two-run homer in the ninth that made it 7-5. He also committed an error in center field.

Rehabbing reliever Erik Goeddel entered the game in the seventh with the Mets trailing 5-3. He surrendered a two out walk and a two-run double to Brian Anderson that put the Hammerheads up 7-3.

Three of Jupiter's first four runs were unearned in part due to the errors on Nieuwenhuis and Wright and a passed ball from catcher Colton Plaia.

Jeff McNeil went 4 for 4 with a walk and three runs in the losing effort.

Mickey Jannis suffered his first loss. The knuckleballer allowed four runs, just one earned, in six innings.

The Mets outhit the Hammerhead 13-9.

In game 2, the Mets took a 1-0 lead to the final frame but could not close out the game.

After pitching a perfect sixth, Robby Coles allowed a leadoff single in the seventh. Coles was replaced by Kyle Regnault. A sac bunt by James Roberts moved the tying run to second, and Blake Barber blasted a game-tying triple to center field. Barber tried to score on the play to win it but was easily thrown out at home plate by Jhoan Urena.

The Mets put a runner on second base with no one out in the eighth but failed to advanced the runner by popping out on a bunt try, popping out to second and grounding out to second.

Cameron Flynn led off the bottom of the eighth with a single and went to second on a sac bunt. With two outs and two strikes Romero blooped a game-winning single off of Regnault into left field.

The Mets lone run came in the fifth. Phil Evans reached on a walk and later scored on a sac fly by Lednier Ricardo.

The loss spoiled a great effort by starter Scaryln Reyes, who pitched five scoreless innings. In his last two starts Reyes has allowed just one unearned run in 11 innings.

Wright, Nieuwenhuis and Goeddel did not play in the second game.

The Mets (59-58, 24-23) and Hammerheads conclude their series at Roger Dean Stadium on Saturday at 5:35 p.m. Steven Matz is expected to throw 25 pitches in a rehab start for the Mets.
