Hammerheads, Battery Meet Again

Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC continues their home-and-home series versus the Charleston Battery on Saturday, June 6 at 7:00 p.m. EDT at Legion Stadium.
The Hammerheads recently took the field against the Battery last weekend at Blackbaud Stadium for the second time already during the regular season. Charleston walked away with their second conquest over Wilmington, taking a 1-0 victory as the Hammerheads played majority of the match a man down following the ejection of Aaron Wheeler in the first half.
"We are excited to be coming home," said Wilmington Hammerheads FC Technical Director and Head Coach Carson Porter. "We owe our fans and ourselves a good performance at home and that is what we will try to deliver."
Wilmington has consecutively faced the top two teams in the Eastern Conference in previous weeks. Both matches proved the Hammerheads worthy of much more than their current position in the league standings state. Wilmington nearly tallied a draw in Charleston following a close attempt at an equalizer in stoppage time. A similar situation on May 16 rendered a more positive outcome as Wilmington's Ashani Fairclough notched a goal in stoppage time to equalize against the Rochester Rhinos in their last home match.
Charleston has been steady and has held down second-place in the standings for majority of the season. When the Hammerheads and Battery last met at Legion Stadium on April 26, Charleston's Zach Prince and Maikel Chang each tallied a goal for the 2-1 victory over Fairclough's lone goal. The long-time rivalry between both teams always serves as a good matchup and provides a great night of soccer for fans of the home and away.
Saturday's match at Legion Stadium will be broadcast live on Wilmington Hammerheads FC's YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/WilmHammerheadsFC.
