Hammerhead face Rio Grande Valley in Monday Night Matchup

Corpus Christi, TX - The Corpus Christi Hammerheads (2-4) take on the Rio Grande Valley Magic (2-5) Monday night at the American Bank Center. The meeting will be the third and final regular season meeting between the two division rivals in 2011.
Both teams come into the Monday night affair having lost in their last outing. Last Saturday night the Hammerheads lost a 41 - 40heartbreaker to Houston when K Darren Brown missed a 19 yard field goal with 24 seconds to play. The Magic made a big 4th quarter comeback but eventually fell to the Louisiana Swashbucklers 71-63.
While neither team will be mathematically eliminated with a loss Monday, both know that it would be an uphill battle to claim a post-season berth. "We need this one, We need to get back on track", said Hammerheads Head Coach Dustin Almond. "Mistakes and missed opportunities have been haunting us the past couple of weeks and we just need to focus and play the kind of game we're capable of", he added.
The Hammerheads have tabbed the game as their annual Breast Cancer Awareness night. The team will be wearing special Pink Jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game and the proceeds donated to the American Cancer Society. Additionally, the first 500 ladies through the door will receive a replica jersey courtesy of Radiology and Imaging.
Fans will also be entertained with a special half time performance by the 2002 Grand Prize winner in the "30 Minutes to Fame" TV competition, Christopher. Christopher is one of the most sought-after visual variety performers in the world today and has been entertaining audiences around the globe for almost two decades. With a unique blend of puppetry and dance, Christopher makes you believe you are watching five people dance. By using long poles and four adult-sized puppets -- with himself in the middle - Christopher is able to be all five Village People at one time or present his famous Michael Jackson Tribute with 5 MJ costumes from important moments of his career while duplicating Michael's famous moves.
Tickets for Monday nights game start at just $10 and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com, the American Bank Center box office or by calling the Hammerheads at (361)814-PASS (7277). Kickoff is set for 7:05pm. The game can also be heard on Sports Radio Corpus Christi, 1230am, beginning at 6:45pm.
