Harrisburg Stampede News Release
HARRISBURG, PA (May 6, 2011) - Professional golfer Rocco Mediate once said, "As any athlete knows, momentum is the most unstoppable force in sports. The only way to stop it is if you get in your own way, start making stupid mistakes or stop believing in yourself."
For the Harrisburg Stampede the first half of their season was more like the second part of Mediate's quote. In week seven, however, momentum and confidence was all theirs as they rallied back from a 40-16 fourth quarter deficit to defeat the Erie Explosion 41-40.
Now they hope to stop the momentum of one of the hottest teams in the league, the Trenton Steel, who are riding a four-game win streak.
Stampede Head Coach Josh Resignalo seeks to keep the team's momentum pointing in the right direction after last week's staggering win, "This week to build from the momentum of a great win last week is to keep emphasizing the importance of playing for one another and to believe what we are trying to accomplish as a team. Last week we proved that when we play together, we will dominate."
After a first week at the helm which saw Resignalo inject four new players in the line-up, wide receiver LaRoi Johnson (6'3", 265), offensive lineman Daniel Davis (6'5", 315, Bowie State) and defensive linemen Neil Wood (6'3", 255, Penn State) and Brandon Jones (6'2", 300, Wesley College) Coach Res is going write to the top of the line-up for a change this week bringing Quarterback Brian Harris on board.
"We signed QB Brian Harris out of Mississippi College. He has been with the Columbus Lions, San Angelo Stampede, and the Maryland Maniacs. Brian is a veteran to the indoor game. He has also been to workouts with the CFL. You will be successful in the indoor game if you have a good QB, and I believe Brian will be a great one," commented Resignalo.
In the first seven games of the season the Stampede has seen three players behind center: Andre' Coles, Richard Johnson, and Kelvin Robinson. All three saw periods of success and Johnson led the Stampede in their come from behind win last week. As a group they have tossed 17 touchdowns against 10 interceptions.
Last season, splitting time between the Maryland Maniacs and San Angelo Stampede Express, Harris threw 20 touchdown strikes and only six interceptions.
Coach Res seems confident in the outlook for his team the final five games of the season, "At this point we are now, all around, a solid team and its time to put it all together and make a run."
