Hamilton Bulldogs Sign Cody Wild to PTO

HAMILTON, ONT - Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today that the Club has signed defenceman Cody Wild to a Professional Try-Out Contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Wild, 25, is tied for the lead in points with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL registering 18 (4 goals, 14 assists) in 25 games while leading the team in assists. Wild played 51 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2011-2012 recording six points (1 goal, 5 assists) and 34 penalty minutes. In 185 regular season games in the American Hockey League from 2008-2012, the 6'1", 195-pound defenceman has notched 45 points (6 goals, 39 assists) and 120 penalty minutes. Prior to turning professional, the native of North Providence, Rhode Island played three seasons of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) hockey for Providence College from 2005-2008 posting 57 points (16 goals, 41 assists) and 80 penalty minutes in 100 regular season games. During the 2005-2006 season, Wild was named to the NCAA (Hockey East) All-Rookie Team. Wild was originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fifth round, 140th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The Bulldogs' next game is against the St. John's IceCaps at Copps Coliseum tonight at 7:30 p.m. The game will air on TVA Sports and Sportsnet. All 'Dogs games during the month of December will be broadcast on Hamilton's Funny 820 (AM 820), with select games simulcast on Montreal's TSN Radio 690 (AM 690).
