
Halifax Hurricanes Win Third in a Row, Defeat River Lions

Halifax, (NS) - Halifax Hurricanes Basketball Club defeated the Niagara River Lions in NBL Canada action March 16th at the Meridian Centre. This win makes it 3 in a row for the Hurricanes and they now have a record of 17-7, leading the Atlantic Division and placing #1 in the NBL.
The teams were even at the end of the first quarter, 29-29. In the second quarter the Hurricanes outscored the River Lions 21-18, and lead 50-47 at halftime. In the third quarter the Hurricanes outscored the River Lions 30-17. The River Lions outscored the Hurricanes 20-31 in the final quarter but the Hurricanes prevailed; The final score of the game was 100-95.
Forward, Billy White led all scorers with 26 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Guard, Shane Gibson scored 25 points, going 6/10 from the 3-point line. Forward, Kyle Hunt earned himself a double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Forward, Mike Glover scored 9 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Guard, Trevor Releford led the River Lions with 19 points. Guard, B.J. Monteiro scored 16 points. Forward, Logan Stutz scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Forward, Samuel Muldrow scored 12 points. Guard, Adam Blazek scored 9 points. Guard, Sammy Zeglinski scored 9 points.
The Hurricanes will continue the road trip, facing Orangeville A's on Friday (18th) then London Lightning on Saturday (19th).
