Halftime Hail Mary
April 7, 2011 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Allen Wranglers News Release
ALLEN, TX- Thirty years later and two quarters earlier, legendary Dallas Cowboys Roger Staubach and Drew Pearson will connect for a Hail Mary once again.
Staubach, Pearson and the Allen Wranglers will be at Allen Event Center on Friday, Apr. 8, as the Wranglers take on the top-ranked West Texas Roughnecks. The Wranglers are coming off a 52-51 win over the Amarillo Venom last Saturday; a win over the Roughnecks will put the Wranglers at first place in the Lonestar Division of the Indoor Football League
"West Texas is a strong, athletic, experienced team," Wrangler head coach Chris MacKeown said. "Friday night's game puts a lot on the line for both teams."
Wrangler kicker Garrett Courtney is looking to extend his lead kicking percentages; Courtney is currently ranked top kicker in the league with a league-long 57 yd field goal. "Being recognized as the top kicker in the IFL only exemplifies the overall performance of our team," Courtney said. "Without the performance of everyone else on special teams, I would not be the league's top kicker."
In addition to the Hail Mary re-enactment, the Wranglers will also be honoring student-athletes from the Lovejoy Independent School District. Kickoff is set for 7:35 p.m. at Allen Event Center. # For more information, photos or to schedule an interview, please call Sarah at 972-912-3111 or email at sminton@allenwranglers.com.
