Allen, TX: After a tight game with extreme defensive and offensive plays from both teams, the Allen Wranglers were defeated 73-74 by the Everett Raptors on May 19th. This is the second time the teams have meet this season.
The Wranglers beat the Raptors March 1st 48-27. The teams will meet one more time June 9th at Everett. WR Luke McArdle was the stand-out player of the game rushing for 65 yards, scoring three touchdowns.
Keeping the game interesting, DB Frankie Soloman had eleven solo tackles and one interception which ran in for a touchdown in the second quarter. Darius Fudge had 17 carries for 76 yards and three touchdowns keeping the Wranglers in the game.
Terrell Owens caught the ball for a two-point conversion tying the game 59-59 in the fourth. The Raptors returned with good offense only to be stopped with 6:23 to go in the fourth at the two yard line. QB Casey Printers' throw was intercepted by DB Austin Smith which led to the Raptors regaining the lead 59-66 with 2:30 to go. Printers returned the favor, tying the game 66-66 with a ten yard rush, 1:24 to play. Kicking from the 15 yard line with one second left on the clock, Raptor Dan Kleckner kicks wide and puts us in to overtime.
In overtime, Darius Fudge rushed for a touchdown leading the Wrangles to lead 73-66. The Raptors QB Shane Austin punched threw the Wrangler defense to score the game winning touchdown, beating the Wranglers 73-74.
Saturday night's game was the first to go in to overtime in Wrangler history. Saturday's attendance was 2,651.
See the Wranglers play again at home, May 26th against the Wichita Wild at the Allen Event Center. The Wranglers will hold a special event honoring members of our military for Memorial Day weekend.
