
Hagan Pitches 2-Hit Shutout as Generals Overpower River Monsters 12-0

UT-Arlington RHP Jack Hagan allowed just two hits and no runs over a complete game effort as the Victoria Generals took down the Seguin River Monsters 12-0 at Riverside Stadium. Hagan walked just one batter while striking out 10 as he went the distance, with Victoria improving to 13-10 this summer.
The Generals picked up 12 hits in the process with each starter recording a hit, led by UT-Rio Grande Valley SS Kade York, McNeese State 2B Easton Dowell and A&M-Corpus Christi LF Drake Kerr notching two hits each. New Mexico 3B Reed Spenrath struck for five runs batted in while Dowell had two RBIs. Dowell, Kerr and Western Oklahoma State PR/DH Derek Cerda each scored twice.
Victoria jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning behind UT-Arlington Tyce Armstrong's RBI triple and Spenrath's RBI sacrifice fly. The Generals tacked on a run in the fourth on Kalamazoo College RF Robert Newland's RBI sacrifice fly before exploding for five runs in the seventh.
Murray State College DH Gage Gilchrist kicked off the onslaught with an RBI single before Dowell was hit by a pitch with the bags juiced and Spenrath belted a 3-run triple to right-center field to clear the bases and make it an 8-0 game. Victoria followed with four runs in the eighth on RBI sacrifice flies by York and Spenrath and RBI singles by Kerr and Dowell.
The Generals now hit the road for two games versus the Acadiana Cane Cutters, the first leg coming on Wednesday, June 28, at 7 p.m.
