Gwinnett's Jakaitis Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jeff Jakaitis of the Gwinnett Gladiators is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Dec. 12-18. It is the third time in his ECHL career that he has won the weekly award.

The 28-year old was 3-0-0 with one shutout, a goals against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .964 as the Gladiators won three games against South Division opponents.

Jakaitis stopped 28 shots on Thursday, leading the Gladiators to a 4-2 win over Florida. On Friday, he made 29 saves in a 2-1 victory over South Carolina, and followed that up by recording a 23-save shutout in a 1-0 win over the Stingrays on Saturday.

A native of Rochester, Minn., Jakaitis is 8-3-1 on the season. He is tied for the ECHL lead with a .941 save percentage, is tied for second with two shutouts and is third with a 1.90 goals-against average.

Under contract to Rochester of the American Hockey League, Jakaitis has appeared in 95 career ECHL games with Charlotte, Columbia and Gwinnett posting an overall record of 43-33-14 with nine shutouts, a 2.69 goals-against average and a save percentage of .920. He has also has appeared in 10 career AHL games with Portland and Worcester going 5-3-1 with a 3.27 goals-against average and a save percentage of .901.

Runners Up: Jason Missiaen, Greenville (1-0-1, 1.44 GAA, .949 save pct.) and Riley Gill, Kalamazoo (2-0-0, 2.50 GAA, .929 save pct.).
