Guttman's Hatty Drives Saints Comeback in Madison

Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
MADISON - Dubuque Fighting Saints forward Cole Guttman put the game in his own hands and delivered. A hat trick by Guttman, his third of the season, sent the Saints flying past the Madison Capitols 6-3 on Friday night at the Alliant Energy Center.
Guttman tied the game while flying off of the bench thanks to a turnover forced by Dallas Gerads. He snapped a one-time feed past Dryden McKay to tie things up at 3. Gerads and Guttman connected on the go-ahead goal just minutes later in a broken play on an odd-man rush.
Then, Guttman took the opportunity into his own hands, with fire in his eyes, dangled past the Madison defense singlehandedly and ripped a backhander past McKay for the insurance marker, and the hat trick goal, to make it a 5-3 game.
Scott Corbett added an empty net goal to put the game away for good.
The Saints appeared to get the jump in the first period following a Kamil Sadlocha shorthanded goal within the first minutes of the game. Madison took consecutive penalties following that goal, and the Saints made them pay on those consecutive opportunities.
First, it was Zach Solow who started the scoring for the Saints, who tied the game off of a pinpoint passing play. Jacob Hamacher gave the puck to Theisen, whose touch pass found Solow at the top of the right circle, and his bid found a way through McKay.
Just minutes later, Austin Rueschhoff made Madison pay for their lack of discipline. Another tic-tac-toe passing play found Rueschhoff on the back door, and he bashed the puck past McKay to put the Saints up one. But Madison did not go away, much like the season series prior.
First it was Noah Weber capitalizing on a rebound opportunity, and then it was Billy Jerry on the power play to close out the first period with Madison in the lead 3-2. Jaxon Castor got the hook after the first period, and Evan Fear came in to start the second period.
Fear did everything he needed to. He stopped all 17 shots that came his way in the second and third periods, and got the win, his fifth win in a Dubuque uniform.
The regular season comes to a close, with a game that will decide home ice, on Saturday, April 8 at home. The Saints host the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders for Fan Appreciation Night, presented by American Trust. $5,000 will be given away thanks to the Winning Edge promotion, and the first 1,000 fans will receive a team photo poster.
