Adirondack Phantoms News Release
Some of New York State's finest and bravest are about to battle for bragging rights on the ice.
On Saturday, March 24th, a Guns 'N Hoses hockey game between the FDNY and a team of Upstate NY police and fire fighters is set for 3:00 at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The Adirondack Phantoms will hit the ice after the Guns 'N Hoses game taking on the Springfield Falcons at 7:00.
The Guns 'N Hoses game figures to be very competitive, with players on both sides that have previously competed at the high school and collegiate levels, and a few that have played minor league professional hockey.
While both teams will skate hard and want to win the game, Brian Donovan and George Carpenter, the organizers of the game, stated that "both sides realize that it is the athletes of Special Olympics that will be the big winners of the evening."
Tickets are $15 each and are good for admission to both games. $5 from every ticket sold will benefit Special Olympics New York. Tickets are available by calling the Adirondack Phantoms at 518-480-3355 or Special Olympics New York at 518-388-0790. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
The Phantoms vs. Falcons game will feature two teams vying for playoff positioning, as both teams are currently tied with 59 points, just 2 points out of the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Chris Porreca, Executive V.P. of the Phantoms, expects a lot of people to turn out for the game, saying "This is a great opportunity for the Adirondack Phantoms to be part of the community involvement with Special Olympics New York and help kick start the 2012 Fall Games in Glens Falls. We are honored to have the chance to represent the athletes of Special Olympics New York with a hockey doubleheader."
Come enjoy our hockey doubleheader at the Glens Falls Civic Center on March 24 with the Guns 'N Hoses game at 3:00 followed by the Phantoms game at 7:00!
