ODESSA, TX. Many fans will be excited to know that a team favorite of the 2004 Roughnecks season will be returning to the field. "He was a great player last year as well as a dependable young man," said Head Coach Chris Williams. Jermaine Blakely, a tight end/defensive end with the Roughnecks last year, was selected to play in the Intense Football League's All-Star game. Blakely was also named to the All-IFL 1st team at the close of the 2004 season. With the Roughnecks Blakely made 10 sacks from his defensive end position while scoring 3 touchdowns as a tight end. Blakely signed with the Austin Wranglers of the Arena Football League until recently being released to the Odessa Roughnecks.

Blakely was a fan favorite because of his interaction with the crowd and exuberant personality as well as incredible talent.

The media are cordially invited and encouraged to attend a press conference this Friday, February 18th at 1:30pm at Buffalo Wild Wings on Grandview Ave. North of 42nd St. Lunch will be served at 1:30 pm with the announcement following promptly at 2:00 pm.

Training Camp begins this Saturday with players reporting on Thursday and Friday. Coach Chris Williams has scheduled his introductory team meeting for this Friday evening and members of the media should be looking for details and an invitation to this special, closed to the public, presentation.
