Capitols Announce Return of Veterans

February 17, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL) - Lincoln Capitols News Release

Lincoln, NE - -The Lincoln Capitols and Head Coach Pat Schaben are happy to announce their initial signings for the 2005 NIFL campaign.

“I consider these 4 to be the cornerstones for the Capitols to build a championship caliber team.” commented Coach Schaben, “The veteran leadership that they provide will be as important to our team as their play on the field.”

6’2” and a chicken wing shy of 350 pounds, versatile lineman and All-Star Center, Chris Dunkle is returning to help anchor the Capitols line play. Chris, a staple of indoor football in Lincoln, played his college ball at Eastern Illinois where he was honored as All Conference and also 2nd Team All American. “Dunk” is often brought up when speaking of the top linemen in the NIFL.

Trent Toline will also be returning to Capitols for the 2005 season. The 6’5, 260 pound Toline will be manning his normal spot at defensive end as well as filling in on both sides of the ball as he has in the past. After his successful career at Wahoo High, Trent played his college ball at South Dakota. The crowd enjoys celebrating his exciting sacks of the opposing QB and numerous stops leaving the opponent with lost yardage.

Perennial All-Star and the Capitols #1 insurance policy, Ty Goode has also inked to play for the team this coming season. After a successful multi-sport career at Lincoln Southeast High, Ty went on to Notre Dame to play cornerback for the Fighting Irish. After college Ty returned and joined the Lincoln indoor team. Ty has filled in many spots on both sides of the ball for the Capitols.

John Hall also will be returning to the Capitols roster. In 2003, John led the NIFL in rushing yards with well over 1000, at that time he was the only the 2nd running back in the NIFL to rush for over 1000 years in a single season. John played his High School ball at Collinwood High in Ohio and went on to play collegiate ball at Toledo. Hall returned to Lincoln and the Capitols late last season as injuries had beset the team.
