Guenzatti and Diakite Earn All-League Second Team Recognition
November 12, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Tampa Bay Rowdies News Release
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A pair of Tampa Bay Rowdies earned spots in the 2019 Championship All-League Second Team, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
It is the first USL Championship All-League selection for both players. The 2019 USL Championship All-League Team was voted on by club management and a league-wide media panel that included representation from every USL market.
Guenzatti, in his first season as Rowdies captain, set a new Modern Era scoring record for the club, netting 18 goals in a spectacular season. He was second in goals in the Eastern Conference, behind only Nashville SC's Daniel Rios, who earned First Team honors. He appeared in all but one match in the regular season and postseason combined.
Diakite was fifth in the league with 149 clearances this season and won more than 65 percent of his duels. He helped the Rowdies record 11 clean sheets this season.
Guenzatti and Diakite are the second and third Rowdies to earn All-League recognition, joining Marcel Schafer, who was honored with a First Team selection in 2017.
The full USL Championship Second Team is above, while the First Team is below. Nine of 11 players named to the First Team played in the Eastern Conference this year, with 15 of 22 players overall representing the East.
