Bakersfield Blitz News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Blitz will try for the second week to make good on their promise of a Guaranteed Win this week against the San Diego Riptide on Friday, May 20th. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
The Blitz failed to defeat the Tulsa Talons last week on the first Guaranteed Win Night, so everyone that came to that game can turn in their ticket stub at the box office for a free ticket to this week's game. For everyone else, admission is regular price. If the Blitz do not defeat the Riptide, the free tickets will be good for the June 10th game against the Arkansas Twisters. Only those fans who attended the Tulsa game will reap the rewards of complimentary non-win admission, but it will continue until the Blitz wins at home.
Friday's game, sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and 98.5 The Fox, features the return of the second annual Foam Football Fling. Fans are asked to bring a foam or Nerf-style ball to the game and when the Blitz scores their first touchdown of the night, throw them onto the field. The balls will be collected and donated to the Bakersfield Police Activities League and other children's charities throughout Kern County. In addition, the first 2,000 kids 12 and under will get a free Blitz Foam Football Helmet, sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and 98.5 The Fox. Friday's game is also Fitness 19 Member Discount Night. All members can flash their Fitness 19 membership ID at the box office and purchase 2-for- 1 admission.
Friday's game is also the debut of the Family Four Pack. For the remainder of the season, fans can purchase four terrace level tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and four popcorn boxes for just $49 Individually purchased, the pack has a regular value of $74 - passing on a 34% savings to families.
Introducing the Bombshellz!
The Blitz Dance Team has a new name. Selected as a part of an online "Name the Blitz Girls" contest on the team's official website, www.bakersfieldblitz.com, the Blitz Girls were officially introduced as "The Bombshellz" at last week's game.
Over 30 different names were submitted before The Bombshellz was selected. Other names included the Blitz Beauties, the Blitzettes, the Blitzing Belles of Bakersfield, the Super Sexy Sack Squad and the Hypnotix. The Bombshellz have their own page on the website, complete with photos and bios of each member. Their next public appearance will be this Thursday at the Downtown Street Faire, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
