Roanoke Dazzle News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., January 15 - The leading scorers in the NBA Development League, Anthony Grundy and Will Bynum, lived up to their billing in a 105-90 Roanoke Dazzle victory over the Fort Worth Flyers in the final game of the first day of the MLK Showcase Sunday at the Crown Coliseum.

"We have two pretty good guards, so if our bigs can't get it done they do," Roanoke coach Kent Davison said. "Will (Bynum) is great and he's just learning to play the position. The best thing about him is he listens and he wants to learn."

The victory improved the Dazzle to 8-12. Fort Worth has lost six of its last eight games and dropped to 10-9.

Roanoke converted 54-percent from the floor (36-66) and outscored Fort Worth 60-28 in the paint. The Dazzle sealed the deal by converting 32-of-39 free throw attempts and outrebounded the Flyers 44-34. Fort Worth managed just 31-of-49 from the line and 27-of-68 (.39-percent) from the floor.

Bynum, who pointed to more than 50 NBA scouts in attendance as a reason to play well, led all scorers with 25 points and added 10 assists to record his fourth double-double. Grundy finished with 20 points and Isiah Victor chipped in 13 for the Dazzle.

"It's more motivation in a way I guess, but I try to play this way every night," Bynum said. "That's the great thing about this league. We are seen by a bunch of important people. Except for the NBA, this is the best place to be."

Ime Udoka and Vonteego Cummings scored 17 points each to lead Fort Worth. Kelenna Azubuike and Keith Langford added 12 each, while Rawle Marshall chipped in 13 and Deji Akindele 11.

Fort Worth takes on Tulsa at 5 p.m. ET Monday. Roanoke plays in the final game of the Showcase against Fayetteville at 8 p.m.
