Greenville Grrrowl News Release
GREENVILLE, SC â John Marks, head coach of the East Coast Hockey League's 2001-02 Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl, will take part in the coin toss prior to tomorrow's arenafootball2 game at the BI-LO Center between the Carolina Rhinos and the Augusta Stallions. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Marks led the Grrrowl to the first championship in franchise history last Friday completing a four-games-to-none sweep of the Dayton Bombers with a 5-2 road win. With the win, Marks became the first coach in history to lead two different teams to an ECHL championship. He also led the Charlotte Checkers to the 1995-96 Riley Cup Championship before that trophy was retired and replaced by the Kelly Cup. Marks is also one of only three coaches to win more than one ECHL championship.
The Carolina Rhinos have won two straight games and are looking to get back to the .500 mark with a third consecutive victory. Augusta is one of only three undefeated teams left in af2. The Stallions currently lead the Eastern Division, in which the Rhinos are in third place, with a 5-0 record. Augusta won the first meeting between the teams this season 47-35 at home on April 27th. The Rhinos are 1-3 all-time versus the Stallions with the home team winning all four games.
One fan, selected from those who register at the Fan Accommodations Table on the BI-LO Center concourse, will have an opportunity to win $10,000 at tomorrow's Rhinos' game in the "ADT Security Services Money Bag Contest". The fan will choose from among 100 moneybags on the field in an attempt to find the one bag containing the winning prize envelope.
Carolina Rhinos tickets are available at the BI-LO Center box office, by calling 864-233-2525 or 864-576-1550 and online at Ticketmaster.com.
