Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID (9/25/13) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Wednesday that the Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with forward Tyler Gron.

Gron, 23, joined the Steelheads midway through last season after being promoted from the Central Hockey League. The Spruce Grove, Alberta, native made an immediate impact, scoring two goals in his Idaho debut on January 18 against Alaska.

He went on to net 21 goals in 34 games with the Steelheads - the second-most in the ECHL in that time frame behind Mathieu Roy of the Florida Everblades (25) - and led the team with eight more tallies during the playoffs. Two of his goals were game-winning overtime markers.

Ralph on Gron: "Tyler is a game-changer. He's a dynamic skater and has a great scorer's touch. He brings a lot of offense back to our lineup and is poised to build off of a good first season."

Gron is the fourth player from last season's team to join Idaho's training-camp roster, along with David deKastrozza, Brett Robinson and James Isaacs. Training camp opens on October 6 in Boise.

The Steelheads host their third-annual "Season-Ticket Holder Only" preseason game on October 12 before opening the regular season on October 18 at Utah .

The 17th season of professional hockey gets underway at CenturyLink Arena on October 23 when the Idaho Steelheads host the San Francisco Bulls. Season Ticket packages are available now, starting at just $275 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season packages are available as well for fans who want a little more flexibility.
