Aces Name Chris Fertal New Head Athletic Trainer

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have announced that Chris Fertal has been named new Aces head athletic trainer.

"The skills and experience that Chris brings to the Aces organization is an outstanding fit," said Terry Parks, Aces managing partner. "Our goal in an extensive search for a new head athletic trainer was to select an individual who is most capable of providing first class service to the health of our hockey club. We're proud to introduce him as a new member to the Aces family."

Fertal brings over a decade of experience to the Aces and previously served as Director of Sports Medicine for Grambling State University (NCAA), working as Head Trainer for their football and basketball programs.

The resident of Wasilla, Alaska also served as Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer for Ave Maria University (NAIA) for three years and was Director of Sports Medicine for Lincoln University (NCAA) in 2009, working as Head Athletic Trainer and Head Football Trainer during the athletic department's transition to NCAA Division-II status.

Fertal's resume also includes experience with Olympic Trials Gymnastics, Villanova University, Penn State Abington and NovaCare Complex (official training home of the National Football League's Philadelphia Eagles) as part of his professional and college sports credentials.

Fertal graduated from West Chester University in 2002 with his Bachelor's Degree in Student Design Athletic Training and is currently completing his Master's Degree in Sports Medicine (Teaching Emphasis) through Temple University.

The Aces will begin their 2013-14 season at home on Friday, Oct. 18 at Sullivan Arena when they host the San Francisco Bulls.
