Grizzlies Sign Running Back

The Fairbanks Grizzlies are proud to annouce the signing of Running Back Dre Gibbs from Western Illinios University. The 5'10 220lb Gibbs, was a two-time All Missouri Valley Conference selection and earned Division I-AA All American honors for the Leathernecks. A native of Lawerenceville, Georgia, Gibbs was a highly touted RB out of high school and was a 2004 High School Heisman Trophy Candidate. As a Junior at Western Illinos, Gibbs earned First Team All-MVC and All American honors at fullback paving the way for current Tennessee Titan RB Herb Donaldson. Gibbs switched to Tailback as a senior and repeated as an All-MVC selection and was chosen as the team Offensive MVP.

"Dre is a pretty special football player but I think he is an even more impressive person. He comes from a great family and is a very humble individual. Community involvement is important to the Gibbs family and he is excited to become a part of the Fairbanks community", stated new Fairbanks Grizzlies Head Coach Robert Fuller. "Dre was very close to catching on with the Jacksonville Jaguars this year and we are excited to give him the opportunity to get back on the field."
