
Grizzlies score eight times in first two innings, beat Crushers 10-0

Sauget, Ill.- The Crushers wrapped up their 2015 season at GCS Ballpark on Sunday and couldn't muster a run as they fall 10-0 to the Gateway Grizzlies who scored eight times on Crushers starter Brad Zambron (3-8) in the first two innings.
The Crushers (38-57) finished the season on a four game losing streak and finished the season 16-27 on the road. The Grizzlies (45-50) finish the season series with the Crushers at 3-3 and won their final six series of the year.
The Grizzlies scored early, Cody Livesay doubled to right center field. He moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a groundout to shortstop by Seth Heck. Craig Massoni walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Blake Brown would single to move Massoni to third and the next hitter, Grant Buckner singled to plate Massoni. Tyler Tewell walked to load the bases and Richard Seigel hit a bases clearing double to left center field to cap the five run first.
In the second inning, Livesay came up and jacked a solo home run to right field, his first of the year to lead off the inning. Heck singled and Massoni hit a home run. The Grizzlies had scored three runs before the Crushers could get an out.
The Grizzlies would score two more runs in the sixth inning. Ben Waldrip walked with one out and moved to second on a wild pitch. Madison Beaird then singled and with runners on the corners, Buckner doubled down the left field line to score both. And put Gateway up, 10-0.
Zambron picked up the loss as he went three innings giving up ten hits, eight runs, all earned, and struck out three. Five Crushers came out of the bullpen and only Kolby Moore allowed runs, going 1 2/3 innings allowing two runs on two hits.
For Gateway, starter Trevor Richards (6-6) picked up the win, going eight scoreless innings, allowing seven hits and striking out six. Pete Perez finished the game by working a scoreless ninth.
Jose Barraza and Mike Devine both had two base hits. Juan Sanchez and Barraza ended the season on a five game hitting streak. Barraza finished the season hitting safely in 22 of the final 24 games. Yuta Okazaki singled in the third inning, his first base hit as a Crusher. This game was the end of the 2015 season, the 7th in franchise history.
