
Grizzlies Open Playoffs Tuesday

The Gateway Grizzlies will open the first round of the Frontier League Playoffs Tuesday versus the Washington Wild Things at GCS Ballpark.
The Grizzlies (64-29) were 3-2 during regular season against the Wild Things (55-40).
Gateway will send right-handed hurler and staff ace Erik Dessau to the hill for game one. Dessau finished the regular season with a 14-2 record. In 138 innings pitched, he had an ERA of 3.13, allowed 140 hits, and struck out 91, while walking only 31.
The Wild Things will counter with right-hander Aaron Ledbetter. Ledbetter, the Frontier League Pitcher of the Year was also 14-2 on the regular season. He tossed 129.2 innings allowing 108 hits, striking out 103 batters, walking 25, and had an ERA of 2.71.
Dessau made one regular season start against Washington on August 19th. He tossed seven innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs, and struck out six while walking one. The Grizzlies dropped the game 5-1. Gateway has not faced Ledbetter this season.
The winner of the five-game series will go on to face the winner of Rockford vs. Windy City in the Championship.
The first 500 fans through the gates Tuesday will receive a team photo presented by Blanquart Jewelers. The gates to GCS Ballpark will open at 5:45 p.m.
On Wednesday, the first 500 fans through the gates will receive a set of 2007 Gateway Grizzlies Baseball Cards presented by GCS Federal Credit Union.
