Gateway Grizzlies News Release
The Gateway Grizzlies have announced that Steven Gomric has been promoted to Assistant General Manager for the Frontier League baseball club.
Steve, 31, is a native of Belleville, IL and a graduate of Althoff Catholic High School. Prior to joining the Grizzlies staff he worked for five years for Tri-Corp Management (TGIFridays) as a bartender, accountant and manager. He was also involved in promotions for Tri-Corp and Cochrane Enterprises.
Steve joined the Grizzlies staff in March 2002 as a ticket sales executive, helping run the ticket office through the Grizzlies first season in GMC Stadium. Gomric also served as Group Sales Coordinator during that time, handling large groups that attended Grizzlies games during 2002.
He was promoted to Director of Ticket Sales following the season, coordinating the season ticket campaign for the upcoming 2003 season. During the current off-season, the number of ticket package holders has increased by 20 percent, with the number expected to rise to 35 percent by the time the season begins.
"Steve has done the job of an Assistant General Manager for some time now," General Manager Tony Funderburg said. "It is only fair that we make it official."
Steve will continue to serve as the Director of Ticket Sales, handling all aspects of season ticket, and ticket plan sales. In addition Steve will assist in corporate and group sales for the team.
"Most fans probably don't realize how much work goes on and how important the off season is to a baseball organization," Gomric said. "This organization's off season performance indicates that this is going to be an exciting 2003 season."
Steve and his fiancé, Amy Pfeiffer will be married this Friday evening. The couple will reside in Belleville, with their chocolate lab Captain.
Individual game tickets are currently on sale, as well as season ticket and mini-plan packages for the upcoming season. The Grizzlies will begin their third Frontier League season May 23, when the River City Rascals visit GMC Stadium.
