
Grizzlies Assign Three Players to Men O' War

Lexington, KY- Lexington Men O' War General Manager of Hockey Operations/ Head Coach Jim Wiley announced today the team has added three players from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Utah Grizzlies. Goaltender Mike Smith, forward Fraser Clair, and defenseman Jesse Cook are coming to Lexington to join the Men O' War.
Mike Smith, a 20-year-old from Verona, ONT, is beginning his first professional season. He was drafted in the 5th round (161st overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars. Smith played in 114 games over the past three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League. Smith finished his OHL career with a .910 save percentage and a 2.93 goals against average. In each of the last two seasons, Smith has recorded 3 shutouts. Last season, with the Sudbury Wolves, Smith played in 53 games while recording a 3.06 goals against average and a .914 save percentage.
Fraser Clair is also beginning his professional career after spending time in the Ontario Hockey League. Clair played four OHL seasons with the Barrie Colts and the Mississauga Ice Dogs. Last season with the Barrie Colts, Clair recorded 22 goals and 26 assists for 48 points with 42 penalty minutes in 67 games.
Jesse Cook arrives in the Bluegrass after four years at the University of Denver. Cook was a 5th round pick (153rd overall) of the Calgary Flames in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He played 152 collegiate games while amassing 6 goals and 53 assists for 59 points with 114 penalty minutes. The 6' 5", 215 pound native of Englewood, CO had 2 goals and 16 assists for 18 points in 41 games last season
The Lexington Men O' War present "Opening Weekend" at Rupp Arena on Friday, October 11th and Saturday, October 12th against the Greensboro Generals.
