Dayton Bombers News Release

Center Fred Slukynsky scored what turned out to be the decisive goal in the shootout as the Dayton Bombers Professional Hockey Team wrapped up its ECHL preseason with a 4-3 victory over the Toledo Storm at the Toledo Sports Arena Saturday night. The Bombers finished 2-0 in exhibition play.

Ex-Storm winger Andrew Williamson put the Bombers in front 1-0 with his third goal in two preseason games at the 9:00 mark of the second period on a quick, rising shot from the faceoff circle. Rookie Mike Markell and defenseman Jonathan Gauthier assisted on the goal.

Gauthier extended the Bombers' lead to 2-0 when he sent Chris Roe's centering pass from the end boards past Toledo goalie Brian Finley at 15:57 of the second.

After forwards Darcy Anderson and Nick Perillo helped Toledo tie the game with two late second period goals 1:40 apart, David Brosseau put the Bombers ahead 3-2 on an unassisted, short-handed, breakaway goal at 11:54 of the third. Center Mike Bayrack scored on the power play for the Storm with 1:59 left in regulation to force the shootout session.

Fred Slukynsky and Brosseau scored in the second and third rounds of the shootout, respectively, while goalie Olivier Dannel denied all four Toledo shooters to secure the victory for the Bombers, who topped Toledo 5-3 in an exhibition game at the Nutter Center on Wednesday.
