Gateway Grizzlies News Release

The Gateway Grizzlies have added pitchers Tucker Jensen and Danny Martony to the roster for the 2013 season.

"These are two young arms that will come to camp and compete for spots on our pitching staff," Grizzlies manager Phil Warren said. "We are excited to see how they both perform."

Jensen, 23, comes to Gateway after spending 2011 and 2012 in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Jensen went 5-6 with a 4.31 ERA in 26 appearances (22 starts) with the Blue Jays. The 6-2 208-pound right-hander from State College, PA struck out 99 batters and walked only 27 in 110 2/3 innings. He reached High-A Dunedin in 2012.

"Tucker went to Embry-Riddle University and that school has become a hidden gem for us in finding talent," Warren mentioned. "Phil Reamy went there and had success with us last year and Dan Eaton is another Embry-Riddle guy we signed this offseason."

Martony, 24, enters professional baseball after a solid collegiate career at Oral Roberts University. The 5-11 190-pound right-hander went 9-1 in his three seasons at ORU. Martony, a native of Goleta, CA, pitched exclusively out of the bullpen with 45 appearances and two saves during his career.

"Danny comes from a successful college program at Oral Roberts," Warren commented. "He put up good numbers there and we are excited to see how that translates to the professional level."

The Grizzlies 2013 home opener is on May 21st when they take on the Joliet Slammers at GCS Ballpark. Season, Group and Single game ticket are on sale now. For more information call 618.337.3000.
