Fairbanks Grizzlies News Release

Fairbanks, AK. The Fairbanks Grizzlies are pleased to announce the signing of Wide Receiver Chris Scott from the University of Alabama and Defensive Back James Romain from Delaware State University (I-AA). Scott, a 5'11 190 lb. WR from Birmingham, AL was primarily a back up at the University of Alabama for Head Coach Nick Saban. While at Alabama, Scott earned five scout team Player of the Week awards and was a member of the 2009 Sugar Bowl team. Romain, a 5'11 175 lb. DB from Farockaway Queens, NY was a stand out defensive back and was selected as the Defensive Most Valuable Player for the Hornets as a senior. He finished with 47 tackles, 20 passes defended, 13 pass break ups, and 4 INT's. Romain helped Delaware State University to the MEAC Conference Championship as a junior.

"These young men are great additions to our program. Chris is a very talented football player and I think before it is all said and done he will have a major impact on the field for us offensively and in the return game. James is a well rounded defensive back that has very good cover skills and can come up and provide strong run support. He is a heavy hitter and plays a physical style of football," stated Fairbanks Grizzlies Head Coach Robert Fuller.

The Grizzlies are set to begin training camp on February 13, 2011 and have an exhibition game scheduled to be played at the Carlson Center on February 21, 2011 at 7:05 p.m.

The Fairbanks Grizzlies are proud members of the Indoor Football League (IFL). The 2011 season kicks off in February. Season tickets for the Grizzlies 2011 season and exhibition game are available for purchase. Call (907) 452-5123 for details.
