Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies had their season-high winning streak snapped on Tuesday as they lost to the Albuquerque Isotopes 4-1 at Chukchansi Park. The Grizzlies finished the homestand with a 7-1 record.

After John Baker hit a solo home run in the third inning, the Isotopes jumped on Grizzlies starting pitcher Justin Fitzgerald in the fourth inning. The first three Albuquerque hitters reached safely to load the bases, setting up Brian Barden's sacrifice fly to make it 2-0 Albuquerque.

The next batter, Ian Stewart, loaded the bases again, this time for Justin Sellers. Sellers hit soft ground ball to third baseman Chris Dominguez. The single allowed Tony Gwynn, Jr. to score, but Dominguez's wild throw also allowed Chili Buss to cross home on the play and give the Isotopes a 4-0 advantage.

Fitzgerald was charged with four runs on six hits and three walks over five innings in the loss.

The Grizzlies waited until the ninth inning to score their only run. Francisco Peguero led off the frame with a double into the left-center field gap before he was plated by Juan Perez's double, which was deflected into foul territory by Isotopes third baseman Ian Stewart.

Isotopes starting pitcher Angel Castro held the Grizzlies at bay for seven shutout innings in his winning decision. Castro only allowed one base runner to reach third base.

The Grizzlies had seven hits total, with seven different batters notching one hit. Ehire Adrianza extended his on-base streak to 13 games by reaching base safely twice.

The Grizzlies bullpen threw four shutout innings, including two innings from Steve Edlefsen. Mason Tobin and Brett Bochy each threw a scoreless frame.

After its off day on Wednesday, Fresno hits the road for an eight-game road trip. The Grizzlies start a four-game series on Thursday, with Mitch Lively facing Iowa's Kyle Hendricks in game one.
