SAUGET, IL-The Rockford RiverHawks scored an unearned run in the top of the eighth inning Tuesday night to edge the Gateway Grizzlies in game two of a three game series at GCS Ballpark.
The Grizzlies (29-27) have scored a combined two runs on 13 hits in the first two games of the series.
Breck Draper put the Grizzlies up 1-0 in the third with the first home run of his professional career. Draper's tape measure shot hit the balcony on the office building over the left field wall.
Robert Sabates even the score with a homer of his own in the Rockford fourth inning.
Justin Lilly started for the Grizzlies and tossed seven innings. He gave up the run on seven hits. He walked one and struck out four.
Rockford (28-28) scratched out the game winner in the top of the eighth on a single hit against reliever Joel Boeschen (2-1). Jason James reached on a fielder's choice, advanced to third on a passed ball and wild pitch. He scored on a fielder's choice by Tony Gonzalez.
The Grizzlies and the âHawks wrap up the series with a 7:05 p.m. game Wednesday night at GCS Ballpark.
