Griffin Dorsey and Héctor Herrera Named to MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday

HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo FC defender Griffin Dorsey and captain Héctor Herrera were named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday for Matchday 13, the league announced today. The Dynamo earned a 2-1 victory at Sporting Kansas City on Saturday to improve Houston's record to 5-4-2 (WLD) this season.

Houston scored the winning goal in the 78th minute when Dorsey slipped a pass through to forward Aliyu Ibrahim, who slotted the ball into the far corner for his team-leading fourth goal of the season. The play marked Dorsey's first assist of the season, while he also led the team in chances created (4) and fouls won (3) on the night.

Herrera, who started his second match of the season, gave Houston the initial lead in the 31st minute, whipping a shot from the edge of the box inside the far post. The play marked 34-year-old's first goal of the season, while he also led the team in touches (68), accurate passes (60), total duels (11), duels won (7), crosses (3) and fouls won (3) on the night. Herrera played 70 minutes of the match as he continues to work back from a knee injury that had sidelined him for the start of the season.

Dorsey and Herrera are the sixth and seventh Dynamo players to be named to the Team of the Matchday this season and are joined by Ethan Bartlow (Matchday 9), Artur (Matchday 7), Franco Escobar (Matchday 7), Brad Smith (Matchday 6) and Ibrahim (Matchday 5). Head coach Ben Olsen was also named to the team for Matchday 9 after Houston's 2-1 victory at Minnesota United FC.

The Dynamo next travel to face in-state rivals Austin FC on Wednesday, May 15 before hosting FC Dallas in the second leg of the Texas Derby on Saturday, May 18.
