Ohio Valley Greyhounds News Release
Week 12 -- May 29th, 2004 Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall -- Atlantic City, NJ Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
The Ohio Valley Greyhounds look to continue their dominance over Atlantic East opponents as they take on Atlantic City, a team that has shown vast improvement since taking on the Hounds in Wheeling four weeks ago.
The Greyhounds stand atop the Atlantic East with a 5-0 division record, outscoring their east-coast opponents by a 55-21 margin. Atlantic City stands at 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the division, good for third in the Atlantic East. Since their game against the Hounds, the CardSharks have won two out of three, losing only to powerhouse Lexington in a one-point shootout.
The inaugural meeting between the two teams took place on April 30th, with the Greyhounds annihilating the Sharks, 51-8. O.V.'s defensive unit was named the player of the game, holding A.C. to 111 yards on offense. Shane Franzer threw four TD passes and Angel Estrada also found the end zone twice.
Last week, Valley and Carolina locked up in a battle for first place in the division. The contest proved to be lopsided, as the Hounds won 62-27. Shane Franzer threw for six scores and Rayshawn Askew rushed for 117 yards. As for the Sharks, a Lexington TD with 12 ticks left robbed them of their fourth win of the season, as the Horsemen won 67-66. Sixty-two points were scored in the fourth quarter.
