'Ants Drop 60-58 Decision Against Bucks

Tupelo, MS--The Tupelo FireAnts remain in second place in the Atlantic South Division with a 60-58 defeat at the hooves of the Houma Bayou Bucks tonight in front of 2,060 fans at the BancorpSouth Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.

The FireAnts were led on offense by Will Hall, who completed 17 of 25 passes for 234 yards, with 6 touchdowns and an interception. Rico McDonald had 12 carries for 47 yards while fellow halfback Joe Gunn ran the ball 4 times for 13 yards. Darryl Carter had 4 receptions for 91 yards and 3 touchdowns. David Mooneyham had 5 receptions for 75 yards and 3 touchdowns as well. Rico McDonald had 1 reception for 12 yards, while Joe Gunn had 5 for 65 yards and a touchdown. Bobby Hill had 4 kick returns for a total of 44 yards, while Joe Gunn returned 2 for 24 yards. On defense, Bobby Hill led the team with 8.5 tackles and 2 passes defended. Tyson Patterson had 7 tackles and 2 passes defended. Reggie Smith tallied 5.5 tackles, including a sack. Tupelo totaled 78 yards rushing and 251 yards passing for a total of 329 yards of offense, with 19 first downs and 1 penalty for 3 yards.

The Bayou Bucks were led on offense by quarterback Doug Coleman, who completed 21 of 35 pass attempts for 287 yards with 6 touchdowns and no interceptions. Running back Darian Chestnut had 8 carries for 37 yards and a touchdown. Clint Schexnayder had 8 receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown, while Kevin Heard had 7 receptions for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sullivan Beard returned 4 kicks for 63 yards. On defense, Thalamus Rogers had 7 tackles as did Lanard Mack. Rogers also had an interception return for a 20 return. Houma totaled 65 yards rushing and 276 yards passing for a total of 341 yards of offense, with 18 first downs and 10 penalties for 74 yards.
