Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. - The penalty-killing of the St. Michael's Majors wasn't up to snuff for the second night in a row as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds notched three power-play goals to win 6-3. As a result, the Majors record dips to 14-27-1-1 on the year.

The Greyhounds controlled the play through the first two periods, outshooting the Majors 25-11 and sporting a 4-2 advantage on the scoreboard. Micheal Haley supplied both goals for St. Mike's, with the assists provided by Matt Caria. The Greyhounds goalscorers were Dustin Jeffrey (2), Cody Thornton and David Kuchejda. Their helpers were credited to Thornton, Michael Quesnele (2), Chris MacKinnon (2), Tyler Cuthbert and Josh Godfrey.

The Majors leveled the play in the 3rd period, and got themselves to within a goal when Mike Pelech found the back of the net, off of Byron Elliott and Kyle Neuber feeds, at 11:50. However, Kuchejda and Quesnele tallies at 15:43 and 19:11 (power-play, empty-net), respectively, put the game on ice.

Chris Carrozzi finished the night with 31 saves for the Majors while Matt Hache supplied 18 for the Greyhounds. The game's three stars were Jeffrey (1st), Haley (2nd) and Kuchejda (3rd).

The Majors return home to entertain the Mississauga IceDogs on Thursday evening (January 18) at 7:30 p.m. Then, they finish the weekend with games in Erie on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Oshawa on Sunday evening at 6:05 p.m.
