Grey Cup ticket update
Published on October 31, 2006 under Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - Grey Cup fever is beginning to build in Winnipeg and across the country, with less than three weeks remaining before the big game.
Grey Cup organizers announced today that tickets sales for the 94th annual Grey Cup, to be played Nov. 19 at Canad Inns Stadium in Winnipeg, reached 41,050 as of early this afternoon. That means that fewer than 4,000 tickets remain for this year's CFL championship game.
Blue Bombers President and CEO Lyle Bauer said there has been a significant surge in interest in Grey Cup tickets in recent days.
That surge can be attributed to a number of factors, including the recent announcement of Nelly Furtado as the Grey Cup halftime act, the Go South Pre-Game Party promotion and some of the potential playoff match-ups, Bauer said.
"Winnipeg has begun to come alive with signs that the Grey Cup is right around the corner," Bauer said. "That's going to intensify in the days to come and we predict Grey Cup fever is going to sweep people off their feet."
Tickets for the 94th annual Grey Cup can be purchased on-line at www.ticketmaster.ca or by calling Ticketmaster at (204) 780-3333.
