Yankees first baseman Greg Bird - sidelined since May 2 with a right ankle bruise -- is scheduled to begin a rehab appearance for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders as they continue their four-game series with the IronPigs on Friday at 7:05 p.m. Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is the exclusive sponsor of all Major League rehabilitation appearances at Coca-Cola Park.

Tickets are still available for all upcoming games and can be purchased in-person at Coca-Cola Park (Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), by calling (610) 841-PIGS (7447) or online at ironpigsbaseball.com/tickets . In addition to Bird's rehab appearance, Friday's promotions also include Friday Night Fireworks presented by Coors Light themed to the music of Kenny Rogers.

Bird, 24, was off to a slow start at the plate in his second-year with the Yankees prior to the injury, hitting .100 (6-for-60) with a home run and 3 RBIs. The Yankees drafted Bird in the fifth round of the 2011 June draft out of Grandview High School in Aurora, CO. Bird made six rehab appearances with the Tampa Yankees, the Yankees High-A affiliate, where he hit .353 with 3 RBI, 2 doubles, and 5 walks.

Bird made his Major League debut with the Yankees in 2015 at the age of 22 on August 13 at Cleveland going 0-for-5. He recorded his first Major League hit two days later in the Yankees 4-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, going 1-for-4 with a single and a strikeout. The left-handed hitting first baseman hit his first and second career home runs in the same game against the Minnesota Twins, with both two-run home runs coming off Twins starter Ervin Santana .
