
Greenville Triumph Sign Canadian Forward William Akio

Greenville, SC - Greenville Triumph SC have announced the signing of Canadian forward William Akio, pending league and federation approval.
Akio brings a well-traveled professional résumé to Greenville, most recently featuring with Marconi Stallions FC in Australia's National Premier League during October of the 2025 season. In his stint down under, he appeared in eight matches, logging 699 minutes and finding the back of the net once.
Prior to that, Akio spent two seasons with Cavalry FC (2023-24), where he made 26 appearances, scored six goals, and helped the club capture the 2024 Canadian Premier League title and the 2023 CPL Shield. His professional experience also includes time in Scotland with Raith Rovers (15 matches, three goals) and Ross County (14 matches, one goal), as well as a standout 2021-22 campaign with Valour FC, where he totaled 44 appearances and 10 goals.
Adding to his international experience, Akio has earned seven caps with the South Sudan national team logging over 400 minutes.
A proven attacker with a strong collegiate background at the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley, Akio finished his career ranked second in program history in points (50), tied for third in goals (18), tied for first in assists (14), and third in shots (98), while earning multiple All-WAC honors and WAC Offensive Player of the Year recognition.
Akio adds pace, versatility, and championship experience to the Triumph's attacking unit heading into the 2026 season.
