Greenville Triumph SC News Release
Greenville, SC - The El Paso, Texas native, Louis "Chapa" Herrera, will join the Greenville Triumph Soccer Club, pending league and federation approval. Prior to signing with USL Championship League Team, Locomotive FC, back in 2019, Chapa worked in construction, playing in regional tournaments in his free time. Locomotive FC invited him to tryout, and after an impressive showing, the midfielder earned his first professional contract with his hometown club, making his dreams of becoming a professional football player come true. Throughout his five year campaign with the Locomotive, Chapa excelled in multiple areas as a key member of the squad.
2019 & 2020 Western Conference Finals
2021 & 2023 Western Conference Quarterfinals
2021 Division 2 Copa Tejas Winner
He became one of only four players in club history to reach the milestone mark of 102 game appearances, three of which included consecutive playoff appearances in the club's first three seasons. With that, Chapa managed to total 4,695 impressive career minutes, despite sustaining an injury that sidelined him for majority of the 2022 season. The defensive midfielder also earned the captain's armband, wearing it for the first time in Locomotive's 2-0 win at Hartford Athletic in 2023.
The midfielder is set to embark on his first season away from his hometown club as the newest 2024 Triumph roster signee.
