GreenJackets Remain Winless

April 6, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Columbia, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets lost their second game of the season in historic fashion. They gave up six runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, which tied a record for most runs scored in an inning for the Columbia Fireflies.

The 6th started with a call to the bullpen as Camilo Doval came in for relief of Garrett Cave. Doval then proceeded to walk four straight batters. In an attempt to save the inning, the GreenJackets went to Frank Rubio who came in with the bases loaded and no outs. Rubio was unable to limit the damage as the Fireflies pushed six runs across.

Before the 6th inning debacle, the GreenJackets had a promising start. In the first, Jacob Gonzalez singled to right field, which scored Heliot Ramos and Shane Matheny. These were the last GreenJackets to come across home plate all night.

Cave looked good in his GreenJackets debut, only giving up one run on two hits in five innings of work. He was in line for the win until he handed the ball to the bullpen.

The GreenJackets will look for their first win of the season tomorrow at 6:05 pm, as they play the third of a four game series in Columbia.
