
GreenJackets Bite Captains Again 5-4

(Augusta, GA) - Angel Villalona hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the tenth inning off of Captains reliever Dallas Cawiezell as the Augusta GreenJackets defeated the Lake County Captains 5-4 on Tuesday. Cristo Arnal had three of the Captains eight hits. This was the Captains 32nd one run ball game and they are now 13-19 in one run games. The Captains are now 6-7 in extra innings and 1-5 on the road trip.
The GreenJackets put a run up in the bottom of third inning when Shane Jordan struck out but a passed ball put him on first base. After he moved to third on a ground out and a fly out, he scored when Captains starter Chris Archer threw a wild pitch and it was 1-0. It was quickly 2-0 when Andrew Davis led of the fourth inning with his first home run of the year.
The lead was extended in the bottom of the sixth inning against reliever John Gaub when the Jackets scored two unearned runs. One run scored on a throwing error by right fielder Matt Brown and another on a RBI single by Matt Klimas and it was 4-0. The Captains tied it at 4-4 in the top of the eighth inning when Adam Davis led off the inning against Jackets starter Madison Bumgarner with a walk. He went to second on a single by Mark Thompson and the runners moved to second and third on a passed ball. Davis scored on a single by Ron Rivas with Thompson taking third. Thompson scored on a wild pitch with Rivas going to second. Cristo Arnal singled Rivas to third. Rivas scored when Lucas Montero reached on an error with Arnal taking third. Matt Brown hit a sacrifice fly scoring Arnal and the Captains had tied it up.
Archer did not factor in the decision going four innings and allowing two runs on two hits, walking two and striking out four. Gaub came on in relief of Archer in the fifth inning and threw two innings allowing two unearned runs and striking out five. Paolo Espino followed Gaub in seventh inning and pitched two scoreless innings. Cawiezell came on in the ninth inning and saw his record fall to 2-7. Dan Turpin picked up the win in relief to up his record to 5-4.
The Captains and GreenJackets conclude the four game series on Wednesday at 7:05 PM. RHP Joanniel Montero (1-3, 4.79) takes to the mound for the Captains against the GreenJackets RHP Daryl Maday (8-4, 1.47). All Captains games can be heard on AM 1330 WELW, WELW.COM or CAPTAINSBASEBALL.COM.
The Captains will return home for an eight-game home stand on Friday, July 25th to face West Virginia and Greensboro. There will be fireworks on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as the Captains play a special 7:05 PM game on Sunday night against the Power.

Tickets for the Playoffs remain the same as regular season game tickets, $9 reserved seat, $7 bleachers, juniors, and seniors, $6 lawn. Lawn seats for the Playoffs will only be sold once the reserved seats and bleachers are sold out. The $7 group rate will still apply to groups of 20 or more.
