GREENVILLE, SC - The Hagerstown Suns (15-18) scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to pull ahead and beat the Greenville Drive (15-18) 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Fluor Field.

The matinee featured a pitchers duel through seven innings as both starters combined for twelve strikeouts and a run apiece.

Suns starter Cole Kimball (4-6) was lights out as the right-hander allowed one run on one hit and struck out seven.

Ryne Lawson matched Kimball with seven innings of his own and allowed one run on five hits.

The Suns failed to score on Lawson in the second after Michael Burgess doubled to center with one out. Center fielder Ryan Kalish fired back a Robbie Jacobsen line drive single to catcher Juan Apodaca to tag Burgess at the plate.

Greenville manufactured the first run of the game in the third as Apodaca hit a ground-rule double to center field and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Kristopher Negron.

The Suns offense was quiet until the sixth when Travis Reagan started the inning with a single and moved to third on a Mark Gildea ground-rule double. Jose Lozada grounded into a fielder's choice, as first baseman Manuel Arambarris threw out Travis Reagan at home. With runners on first and third Tim Pahuta hit an infield single to score Gildea and tie the game at one.

Ryne Miller (1-2) replaced Lawson in the eighth and served up a Jake Rogers blast to left field, his third of the season, to give the Suns the lead. Hagerstown capitalized on two Greenville defensive miscues and tacked on two more runs.

In the eight, Edulin Abreu came in for relief and escaped with the lead. Abreu served up two singles, a walk, and allowed a run to score before he retired the side.

In the ninth, the Suns held on to a 4-2 lead, but Abreu let back-to-back singles chase him from the game. Kyle Gunderson saved it for Hagerstown as he shut down the rally and picked up his sixth save of the year.

The Suns head home to Municipal Stadium to begin an eight game homestand and will face the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Friday, July 25th at 7:05 p.m.

The Hagerstown Suns play at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, MD and are a Class "A" affiliate of the Washington Nationals.
