
GreenHawks Mourn Passing Of Head Coach Otis Hailey

ROCKVILLE, MD.The Premier Basketball League is saddened by news of the passing of Maryland GreenHawks head coach Otis Hailey. Hailey succumbed to kidney failure on the morning of January 30, 2010.
"On behalf of the Premier Basketball League, its players and staff, we send our condolences to Otis Hailey's family," said Dr. Severko Hrywnak, Chairman of the Board of the PBL.
Hailey had been named as coach of the Maryland GreenHawks on January 19, 2010, replacing then-head coach Rob Spon. Hailey coached two games for the GreenHawks, winning one against the Quebec Kebs and losing one game against the Rochester RazorSharks. His team was scheduled to host a home game against the Vermont Frost Heaves that Saturday.
Hailey has worked as a head coach for ten years, beginning in February 2001 when he was promoted from Assistant Coach to Head Coach of the International Basketball Association's Saskatchewan Hawks. He was also associated with minor league teams in Bakersfield, Tijuana, Calgary and Los Angeles, as well as in Jamestown (N.Y.) and in St. Catherines (Ont.).
