Morrisville, VT July 25, 2011 - The Green Mountain Rock Crushers of the Federal Hockey League has officially relocated to Morrisville, Vt., where the team will play its inaugural season beginning in October. The Rock Crushers will play their home games at the 1,000-seat Green Mountain Arena, located about 20 minutes from the Stowe Mountain Resort.

Through a partnership with Latona Sports Management and the Green Mountain Arena, the Rock Crushers have created a stable and mutually beneficial situation that the team's governor/general manager, Andy Makal believes will be conducive to the long-term success of a professional ice hockey franchise.

With Latona Sports Management on board, the Rock Crushers are guided by new CEO Randall Latona, whose hockey background includes serving as the Vice President of Operations for the Rochester Americans of the AHL, a team in which he also held an ownership stake. Mr. Latona's track record is not limited to the hockey world, as he experienced success in many business endeavors both in and outside of the sports world.

Mr. Latona has agreed to undertake extensive renovations to the Green Mountain Arena to support the Rock Crushers. Renovations will include creating additional seating and updating the existing dressing rooms.

"The addition of Mr. Latona and arena manager, Graham Kirk to our organization is incredibly exciting and fortuitous," Makal said. "Mr. Latona and Mr. Kirk exemplify the qualities of professionalism and passion that this team was founded on. We look forward to a long and successful run in the FHL."

The relocation to Morrisville comes after negotiations about ice times at the Ice Haus Arena at the Jay Peak Resort failed to produce suitable dates for the FHL schedule, said Makal.

Makal is pleased with the team's time at Jay Peak, but said the situation at the Ice Haus Arena was unsuitable for a professional hockey team.

"We really appreciate the effort that Jay Peak Resort put into being the home of the Rock Crushers, and we certainly have enjoyed our relationship with Mr. Stenger and Mr. Wright and would be open to working with them in the future," Makal said. "Unfortunately we couldn't come to an agreement with the arena on suitable dates. The Ice Haus Arena and the Jay Peak Resort are in a beautiful location, but a professional ice hockey team should be the number-one tenant in the building in which it plays."

The Green Mountain Rock Crushers are a professional hockey organization in the Federal Hockey League. To learn more about the team, league, schedule or sponsorship opportunities, contact the staff at (802) 888-0166.
