Morrisville, VT - The Green Mountain Rock Crushers of the Federal Hockey League are pleased to announce their first player signing with the addition of forward Konstantine Kalmikov. Kalmikov, 32, was a third-round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

After a successful junior career with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League, Kalmikov began a professional career that has spanned 771 games, including 234 in the American Hockey League. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound native of Kharkov, Ukraine spent the last three seasons with the Hull Stringrays of the English Elite League, compiling 146 points in 159 games.

"We are very fortunate to add a player of this pedigree and experience to the Rock Crushers' roster," said general manager/director of hockey operations, Andy Makal. "Konstantine's size and skill will give the FHL another elite-level player and give our developing players a real professional to look up to."

In additional transactions, the Rock Crushers have officially invited forwards Shea Carey, Justin Elmore, David Lynne and Jason O'Bannon, as well as goaltenders Chris Frazier and Josh Provost to their training camp that will open on Oct. 14. The Rock Crushers kick off their inaugural season on Oct. 28 with a home-and-home series against the defending FHL champion Akwesasne Warriors.

The FHL will play 53-game schedule, including five games at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine, the former home of the Lewiston MAINEiacs of Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
